Live It Out Loud! Some Fun Photos

Hi - there's no creations today. I just wanted to share a few of my most recent "fun" photos - taken last night at top ten tour of the THE best singing competition ever!!! American Idol Tour Live! (can you hear the screams???)

Me and my sister went to the concert last night in Shreveport. It was awesome. Each of the 10 sang 3 songs.... David C. sang four. The women were all beautiful...beautiful. The men - well....yum. This group of 10 put on a great performance. They are all amazing singers. Loved, loved, loved it! If you have a tour coming near you - you'll "Have the Time of Your Life" (couldn't resist the pun). Good, clean, family fun!

Here's just a few random pics from my many. Oh, and if you click on the photos, they will enlarge. You KNOW you want to. :)

Have a great day!

Congrats to the Masters 09!

I can't start the blog for today without congratulating the new Memory Maker's Masters. I can't wait to see your wonderful work in future issues. And I have to say a special congratulations to my dear friend, Anabelle O'Malley! I'm so happy for you!!!

Anabelle also contributes to the Pursuit of Craftyness blog, and if you haven't seen one of her recent posts, you'll want to check it out. She shows innovative ways to incorporate recycling into your paper crafts.

I almost threw something away last week and remembered her tips, so I recycled a piece of plastic transparency from a sticker sheet. I stained the plastic, stamped with Stayzon and then punched out my flowers. Anabelle, I hope this makes you smile!

The papers are Graphic 45, the stickers are from Making Memories. The stamps (musical notes) are by Crafty Secrets. I handcut the fabric flowers on top of the plastic ones.

Here are a couple more cards. The first one uses American Crafts papers. The white butterfly is from one of my Scarlet Lime kits.

The last card uses my Cuttlebug and the "With Gratitude" combo die and embossing plate. The papers are leftovers from the August Paper Posies Kit.

That's all for today. School is now back in session and I'm working on getting myself into a new routine. Have a great day!

Happy Thrift Shop Day

Yeah - you read that right - today is National Thrift Shop Day. If you like recycling, or rummage sales, or finding gems at Goodwill or the Salvation Army thrift store, then today is your day.

In honor of National Thrift Shop Day - I created a card. Okay - so it doesn't exactly LOOK like a National Thrift Shop Day card, but it was inspired by the day, nonetheless. I used an Odd Bird Planet stamp and created a quilt-like background for my card. I don't know why I thought of an old quilt and a cat, but I did.

I hope you having a comfy, cozy, lazy August Sunday.

Some Serious Eye-Candy

I'm not talking about my own work. I'm talking about the eye-candy at the August Lime Tart Gallery. There are THREE galleries. Yes, three. One for the Full Tart Kit, one for the Half Tart Kit and one for the A La Tart Kit. You'll want to check out all three! I'm totally blown away and can't stop browsing the galleries.

I'm so happy I can finally post my pages here. There were all done with the August Full Tart kit. The papers in this kit are K&Co Mira collection. It's a really beautiful collection. You can check out the kit contents and order from the US at Odd Bird Planet.

Boys will be boys.

On another note, check out the stores right now. I'm talking about department stores. I took my kids to the mall yesterday - well, we only went to 3 stores b/c I hate to just wonder the whole mall. My son loaded up on mark down things from Old Navy. I just love that he found great bargains. I asked him if he would mind taking my daughter through the mall for a bit so I could have some 'mom' shop time in JCPenney's and he gladly did. Bargains.. I kid you not. I ended up with a $30 shirt, a $50 short sleave sweater (shirt) and a pair of dress pant reg. $36.... what did I pay? $15.62. Yes. Under $16. I told hubby last night I want to go back and get 3 more nice pieces for under $16.00. Put down that gluestick and head to the mall. Seriously.

I know there was something else I wanted to post, but I can't even think of what it was right now. Check back tomorrow. Maybe it will come to me in a dream. Have a wonderful, wonderful day!

Fun with Color

If you haven't picked up the August/September issue of Paper Crafts Magazine, it's a must have. The entire issue is focused on color and different ways to use it - or not use it. From monochromatic creations to hot combos, it's full of tips and ideas.

I made these two card for the coloring book section. (That's pretty much self-explanatory, right?) The papers in the Live Out Loud card are from Sweetwater.

For the Best Friends Card, the papers are from KI Memories. I used Prismacolor pencils on both cards to add the pop of color.

Meanwhile, I was informed recently that I have been tagged. Yes, tagged. As if you really want to hear more things about me. Lovely Anabelle has tagged me, so, well, I sort of have to.

Here are six random things about me.

1. Yes, I eat crawfish. Not often, but if you bring me some, I'll definitely dive in.

2. I love the beach. I could sit on the beach for hours and hours and hours.

3. I can still jumprope. To the dismay of my teenage son, I can jumprope for long periods of time, and cross my arms while I jump - and uncross and keep going.

4. I recently discovered I can no longer hoola-hoop. I'm going to work on that.

5. I once played the flute and the clarinet. I do not own either, but I do own a saxaphone. Oh, I can sort of play it.

6. If I forget a person's name, I sometimes go through the alphabet in my head until I hit the letter their name starts with. It works most of the time.

Now I'm going to pass this fun little tag on to 6 poor unfortunate people. Sorry, folks, that's the rules.

Here goes tags to:

1. Julie
2. Donna
3. Miki
4. Hilary
5. Gabby
6. Sonda

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

Well, it's about time..

...to show some layouts, right? I was guest designer for Paper Posies Kit Club this month. Their idea gallery went live this weekend, so I can share some of my pages now. The kit this month featured KI Bloom - so bright and fun for happy summer pages.

I used the Cricut Home Essentials cartridge to make the flourishes on the page.

And here are a couple of older cards. The first one uses Basic Grey Sugared papers and the bird stamp from Hampton Art Stamps (Marah Johnson collection).

This summery card is in the July issue of Cards Magazine. The papers are from Dream Street and the stamps are Hampton Art (Marah Johnson). That's all for now. Busy week coming up. Have a great Monday!

Will it really cool off?

Our weather forecast says that this weekend the lows will actually be in the 60's. Really? Really? I sure do hope so. I think that's a good sign. Rain would also be a good sign.

Not much to share today. I've been on a scrapbook page marathon lately, but I can't show anything here - yet. I'm waiting for reveals to go up on the kit club sites, and then I can post away. Meanwhile, here are a few cards and projects I managed to squeeze in.

The card at the top of the post uses some scraps from Fancy Pants - papers and die cut (for sentiment). I used the Cricut Home Accents cartridge for the butterfly and photo corners.

I used Dream Street Papers' Simply Stated collection and my Cuttlebug "With Gratitude" set for this simple card.

Another one with Dream Street. I used my Cricut Home Accents cartridge with this.

And one last card using My Mind's Eye papers.

That's all for today. Have a great day and I hope cooler weather is in store for everyone this weekend!

Nothing but peeks today...

I hate to be a tease, but I can't post anything right now except a few peeks. These peeks are what I made with the August 08 Lime Tart Full Tart kit. You can get this in the U.S. at Odd Bird Planet, or overseas at Lime Tart.

Check the Lime Tart Blog gallery on the 12th for designs for all three kits.

I promise, I'll have some layouts up soon!

Some Friday Goodies

Not only is it Friday, it's the first day of August. It feels like it, too. We are expecting 101 degree temps today - and no sign of rain. The poor grass here is so brown, despite my attempts to keep it watered. Me and hubby have been doing movie date nights on Fridays - so that's another reason I like Fridays. What do you like about Friday??

So here are a few things I made recently. The first is a card I made using Webster's Pages papers. They have a monthly challenge on their Inspire Me website, and this is the card I made for the July challenge.

Check out the blog at Emma's Paperie today. The Design Team was challenged to create some things using a stationery gift box. The projects are amazing. I got to play along with them for July, so here's my shadow box I made with the stationery box. The papers are Sassafrass Lass and Graphic 45. See the blog for the complete supply list.

And last, this was a fun little challenge I gave myself. I recently bought some Cuttlebug die cut and embossing folder combo sets. I wanted to use them, so to make it interesting, I challenged myself to limit my supplies. I only used 2 different colors of cardstock. The teal has a white core and I sanded it. The three cards are all made using the "With Gratitude" set. The 4th card uses the "Argyle" embossing folder.

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you stay cool.
